Fuel price trends update 16 July 2024

As expected, we are now seeing the new price cycles emerge in Brisbane and Melbourne. Like Sydney, these capitals are seeing a new peak price for unleaded 91 of 219.9cpl. The good news for motorists in those capitals is that there’s still time to get cheaper fuel in the 170s and even 160s! There are still some low prices in some parts of Sydney too.

The latest price cycle has been slow to spread across Sydney. The average unleaded 91 price has risen considerably; however, there are still a significant number of locations posting prices in the 160s to 170s.

In a very similar way to Brisbane, Melbourne is seeing the first signs of the new price cycle, with the peak price also following Sydney’s precedent at 219.9cpl.

The new price cycle has begun in Brisbane now, with 219.9cpl likely to be the peak price spreading across the city in the coming week or so.

Adelaide prices are going up to 219.9cpl quickly! There are still a small number of locations that haven’t jumped up yet, but it won’t be long.

Perth average prices were down very slightly on last week. We can expect the peak price this Wednesday to be around 219.9cpl.

Darwin average prices rose very slightly over the past week.

Hobart average prices also rose very slightly over the past week.
